Late October News and Events

The annual Chili Dinner is this Friday

Annual Chili Dinner and Wiggins Fund Drive This Friday

Each fall, we host our Chili Dinner with our friends in organized labor.  Join us Friday, October 25 hosted again by our friends at Plumbers and Gasfitters Local 8. We are happy to feature Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and County Legislator Jalen Anderson as we raise funds to support the JCDC staff position, which sets Jackson County apart from other Democratic committees in the state. We hope to see you there but if you can't attend:  Click here to make a recurring or one time donation.

Thank you to our sponsors: Operating Engineers Local 101, Pipefitters Local 533, Cleaver for Congress, Committee to Elect Robert Sauls, Rep. Joe Runions, Mayor Pro Tem Kevin McManus, Greater Kansas City Building and Trades Council and Katheryn Shields for KC!

UAW Strike Sees Progress but Still Continues

Over the next few days some 46,000 UAW members at General Motors will vote whether to ratify or reject a 2019 tentative contract agreement.

The UAW will remain on strike, which is entering week six, while its members study the tentative agreement throughout the week and vote. If the contract is ratified, the strike is over and workers could return to work the next day. But that's to be determined  as is what happens if the deal is rejected.

The Jackson County Democratic Committee along with many of the Democratic elected officials in our county have walked on the line with these workers and donated resources to employees. Defending worker's rights is a central part of our party philosophy and we'll keep standing by them until their demands are met.

Keep Up to Date With Nicole Galloway's Campaign on Facebook

As part of the campaign's digital outreach, a special Facebook page has been built to keep Kansas City area supporters in the loop on events and announcements. Join the group today: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2514994561919620/

Don't Forget About Special Elections!

We have two special elections in Kansas City on November 5, House Districts 22 and 36.  Our candidates, Yolanda Young and Mark Sharp, are working hard to connect with voters and make sure they know Democrats are doing what they can to curb violence, fix roads, improve public schools and raise wages across the state of Missouri. If you want to help either of their campaigns, let us know!
