The Jackson County Democratic Committee is pleased to announce our keynote speakers for our Truman Days Events on May 2nd: Missouri State Treasurer Clint Zweifel for our breakfast and Governor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan for our banquet.

GOVERNOR JENNIFER M. GRANHOLM was reelected the 47th governor of Michigan in November 2006. She has worked boldly on behalf of the people of Michigan. Some of the progressive policies she has pursed include the successful program, No Worker Left Behind, which has retrained over 31,000 workers. Workers received tuition free training to learn the new skills that would allow them to compete in a new emerging America economy.
Her commitment to health care and families has helped to insure over 300,000 Michiganians, and given the state the distinction of being tied with Hawaii for having the least amount of uninsured children. Governor Granholm is a ranking member of the Democratic Governors Association and a tireless campaigner for Democrats in her state and across the country. Governor Granholm served as "Sarah Palin" during the mock vice presidential debates with Vice President Joe Biden. Governor Granholm strong performance as the Attorney General of Michigan has caused her to be on many analysts’ short list for United States Supreme Court under the Obama Administration. The Jackson County Democrats are proud to include the Governor with our list of previous distinguished speakers for Truman Days.
We are also pleased to announce that STATE TREASURER CLINT ZWEIFEL will be our Truman Days speaker for the brunch on May 2nd at 10:30. This will be an exciting breakfast. Treasurer Clint Zweifel is Missouri's 45th treasurer and previously served as a state representative from St. Louis. He comes from a strong union background, and Treasurer Zweifel is a member of the Teamsters. Clint Zweifel is one the youngest treasurers in the history of the State of Missouri and Democrats are looking forward to many years of service from this extremely bright star of our party.
Truman Days, our annual celebration of President Harry S. Truman, is right around the corner on May 1st and 2nd. Featuring Governor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan as our Keynote Speaker and Missouri's own U.S. Senator McCaskill, Congressman Cleaver, Governor Nixon, Secretary of State Carnahan, Attorney General Koster, Auditor Montee and Treasurer Zweifel, this will be a great year to celebrate our many victories.
